Decluttering - Shift Your Mindset & Reap the Benefits!

  • Dr Nikki A Creber

What Does De-clutter mean?

To de-clutter means to remove extra, unneeded things from a space or area to make it clean, open, and useful. It goes beyond basic cleaning or tidying up by actually getting rid of possessions you do not want or use anymore.

💡Where to start?

Always start with the least interesting job!

Be it in the bedroom, with a photobox, your email inbox, your kitchen cupboards, the spare room, your garage or simply start with your handbag.

A goal without a plan… is just a wish.

✂ Come prepared!

With a clear relaxed mind and then lots of what you might need colored files, folders, boxes, sticky tape, scissors, paper clips, rubbish bags! Clarity spice storage.

De-cluttering exercises can be very draining while on task as you are always making decisions and being prepared.

This emotionally taxing work can be more so if a particular area worries you...always keep the goal in sight!

🍌 Begin with the end in mind!

- Always undertake a de-cluttering job from start to finish, one box at a time, one cupboard at a time, one file, or folder at a time or one email at a time in an allocated time period.

  • Make sure you are hydrated with plenty of snacks.

  • Always begin a de-cluttering job with plenty of water handy to hydrate

  • prepare some snacks in advance “grab and go’’ rules.

How to De-clutter

  • Start small: Pick one small drawer or one shelf first. Do not try to clean the whole house at once.

  • Sort items: Make groups for things to keep, things to throw away, and things to give to others (donate)

  • Let go of "just in case" items: If you do not use it now and do not need it today, let it go.

  • Do it fast: Make quick choices. Do not overthink every single item - Does it bring you joy?

🥳 Celebrate You! 🥳

A movie, a glass of wine, a bath, a relaxing walk, what will it be?

They small that challenging tasks can be undertaken in one big action about three hours or so or maybe one task a day over a week!

When achieved you have a unclouded view will done
